Greentoof technology Proliferation

I don't know how it happenned, but a man on the streets of Manhattan has gotten a hold of my greentoof technology and is using it for all to see. I didn't think any of you would believe me, so I took a picture of him with my cellphone.

In case you were wondering, he is on the phone with Nick Nolte.

Today in Global History

Welcome back from vacation. Like many, I was sick for half the vacation. While many acted as if we were still on vacation, we did learn a few things about how Africa was dealt with after World War 2.

Which student honestly asked whether cats really have 9 Lives?

I realized the true meaning of Sugar - honey - iced - tea...
I know, I'm slow.

Stay tuned for the pic of Greentoof being used on the streets of Manhattan.
Also, I have learned that you can get Greentoof hands-free! from some cereal boxes.
Picture also to follow.

Global 4 Final will be April 30th...

Big Loss

The coaching community suffered a huge loss with the passing of Grambling's Eddie Robinson. He was the Grambling football coach for 56 years.

While listening to and reading assorted obituaries, I noticed that in 1984, Boston University played Grambling at Yankee Stadium. Details on that historic match-up:

stay on myspace if you can't clean it up

Reminder: Don't disrespect the blog by cursing. If you don't like the blog, don't look at it. Last I checked, there is plenty of crap on myspace that will keep you occupied for hours. Here is a tip, just stare at the screen while Young Jeezy hypmotizes you with his prophetic rhyme styles and before you know it you'll be smart.

The essay monster is not bringing the same fear that it used to.
Most took on the task admirably and did what had to be done.

Talk about Members Only -- what student was ready to start slappin people like the dad in 300 if someone had taken her jacket. The carnage would have been obscene.

Mista! I'm not in that Alphabet Gang!

Note: The 4 muskateers aka the 5 muskateers will now be known as the Dominican Muskateers. You know who you are!

If you are reading this over vacation, don't forget the essay!

Defensive end Wadsworth attempting comeback

PHOENIX -- More than six years after Andre Wadsworth played in his last NFL game, midway through the 2000 season, the former "can't-miss" defensive end prospect is back in the league for one more belated attempt at fulfilling his immense potential.

Here is an old article from Sports Illustrated on Wadsworth, sounds very similar to Mario Williams:

Somebody mentioned that the Chinese supported Mao (really?) and that we have two new wrestlers in pd 3.....

Lord Alfred Hayes Returns For WrestleMania as Donald Trump

Is it me or does Donald Trump look a lot like Lord Alfred Hayes? Ever notice that they're never in the same place at the same time? Right.

Anyway, Wrestlemania 23 (I remember watching the 1st one!) features Hair v. Hair, Trumps v. McMahon on April 1st.

Half day for open school found us comparing Stalin and Mao, talking about the future and going over yesterday's work.

We found out that some "would never swim in those exotic seas",
"you float better if you're fat", and that one of you looks like Renaldo Balkman. You know who you are.

The King

If the King ever shows up in the window to the classroom door, I will leave and never come back. For real.

Chrebet re-opens Bogarts - Thousands line up with Fake IDs

The world famous Bogart's has re-opened in Hempstead as "Chrebet's", owned and operated by the former Jet and Hofstra Dutchman Wayne Chrebet.

"I couldn't be happier", said veteran bouncer Frank Kazis, "I am a big Jet fan."

In related news, Pete Johnson will re-open Tim Hickey's in Rockaway and call either "It's So Swede" or "Anglo-saxy".

Character is in Style

Given the recent trends in the NYJ personnel department, the Jets will focus on the high character model that the Pats have used since making Scott Pioli their guy. Look for Mangini and Tannenbaum to pick smart, versatle team guys in the mold of Kerry Rhodes and Jericho Cotchery. Here are some that I really think fit the description:
1. Jordan Kent, WR, Oregon
- all-american in Track, Academic All-American in Basketball, played b-ball for his father at Oregon and a familiar target for heir apparent Kellen Clemens.

http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/kent_jordan

2. Anthony Gonzalez, WR, Ohio State
- Rhodes Scholar candidate, similar specs as Kent Jordan, very prolific.
http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/gonzalez_anthony

3. Justin Hickman, Tweener, UCLA
Classic 3-4 tweener that has pass rush skills.

Straight Parisian War

With the horrible state of things in the heavyweight division of Boxing (Klitzko v. Chris Byrd doesn't excite me), the seldom-watched Cruiserweight division has quickly become one of the most compelling classes. With a 200 lb weight limit, these chiseled warriors do not resemble the blown up heavyweights like John Ruiz, but look more like the Spartans of 300.

Those that watched the undercard of Zab Judah v. Carlos Baldomir in Madison Square Garden witnessed Jean-Marc Mormeck v. Oneal Bell fight for the WBA/WBC Cruiserweight championship. This fight was a twelve-round slugfest that had Mormeck out on his feet for close to 2 minutes. He made it through, but lost a close, split decision in what many thought was fight of the year. Bell was now champion and Mormeck needed to fight his way back.

Mormeck, a Frenchman, hooked up with Richie Giachetti, former trainer to Larry Holmes, to put him back into Championship shape. Bell, of Montego Bay but now living in Atlanta, defended his title successfully and set-up a re-match with awesome potential. That potential was seen by both James Dolan and Don King that agreed to televise the fight from the suburbs of Paris on MSG 4pm in the afternoon, on St. Patrick's day.

A Frenchman, a Jamaican, an Italian ref, in Paris, on St. Patrick's Day.

I will not give details on the fight, but I will offer one thing. It may have been the best fight I have ever seen. Never before have I had so much anxiety watching a fight nor have I seen so many hard, full punches thrown at such a feverish pace. Similar to Corralles v. Castillo I, but with more punching power.

Set your DVR on stun, because this fight is one of the reasons boxing is still relevant.

Don't Break my Bracket

Although I loved the little Super Mario mustache that Miller used to rock during his days as a point guard for Pitt, his Xavier team is dangerously close to screwing up my Final 4.
I need Greg Oden to seriously take things over...

Today in Global History

Every year, when we begin the Cold War, the theory of two superpowers comes up. Every year someone asks "...you mean like flying or moving things with your mind?" It always happens, without fail. It always leads to a short conversation on what the best superpower is and telekinesis always wins.

This year I told them about the late 70's Incredible Hulk muscles that you used to put under your shirt. One student asks, "Who was the real Hulk? The Hulk was real right?" Congrats, you just made the blog.

Students post your thoughts, but try not to be too "cold"....

Today and Yesterday in Global History

Yesterday the kids did their speeches on what to do to end the war in the Pacific.

NOBODY punked out, but some went too long.

Some needed an exorcism because they spoke like a demon possessed and made a 20 second speech into a 2-minute one...How? Let me tell you... we nearly had to pull him off the stage.

Best line: "...unleash weapons of mass chaos..."

Today...I did the video tape for my state certification. While the video was being set up, one student says, "Mista, if I knew I was getting videotaped, I would have done my hair..."

The Boar Hunter

Schlegal is a big time boar hunter. Can't help picturing him kill boar like Rambo.
From NYJ website:
An avid outdoorsman, Schlegel remains on the hunt. Over the past couple of months, he has pursued hogs, pheasants, ducks and deer.
“I went out and found a place where they have pheasants. It’s basically a big, couple hundred acre field, and they put the birds out there for you,” he said. “I take my dog, Butkus, and my friend Brian Dobson – he is the guy I train with down there. We got a bunch of pheasants.”

7 feet of True Maniac

Mikki Moore is the Nets version of David Lee. While he will probably be watching Lee and Curry get nice in the playoffs from the deck of a boat, he is still a complete maniac in the mold of Spree and Xavier McDaniel.

I think I need a Mikki Moore jersey from his time in the Roanoke Dazzle.

The "F" Bomb
Today's Topic: "Scenario Training"
Make Pro and Con list for all US options for ending WWII in Pacific:
1. Invasion 2. Conventional Bombing 3. Atomic Bomb
In groups of 3, decide on course of action and make speech explaining decision.
High-lites
-While engaged in group activity, one student asks "Can't I just kill everyone?"
-Several students drop the "F" bomb, outward use of the word f*ck, a common occurence in the all New York City classrooms. It is explained to these students that the F-bomb is not an option in this Scenario.
-I make several calls on my "greentoof", the phone in my room that does not have a cord. One call is to place a food order for my G4 flight which is later in the evening. The students suggest Shrimp cocktail and I agree.

Another Reason we sent Herm to KC

Herm let Crazy touch our team. Mangini doesn't let Crazy approach.

Mr. Broken Promise

Top 5 Worst Jets Draft Picks

Mike Haight (1986) - Tackle - U. of Iowa
-Best Quality was a serious handlebar mustache.

Roger Vick (1987) - Fullback - Texas A&M
-ran as if he had a baby seat attached to his back.

Blair Thomas (1990) Tailback - Penn State
- Fumbled against Chicago Bears on MNF causing me to take doctor mandated time-out, which included no newspaper, radio, or television with the NYJ.

Dave Cadigan (1988) Tackle - USC
- busta-bust.

Kyle Brady (1995) Tight-End - Penn State
Aryan strong man can't catch cold. Will probably be all-pro in NE.

Pacman Fever

Word is someone tried to stab Pacman Jones the other night and the Pacacuda took the high road. This dude got his whole style ala LT in Any Given Sunday. If I were the Titans, I would trade Pacman and a 2nd round pick for the ghosts of Jonnie Cochran + Robert Kardashian and a $10K gift certificate to Chico's Bail bonds.

First Away Game

The first Jets away game and it takes me to Gillette Stadium for the opening round of the 2007 playoffs. Pats fans are not the killers that the Jets fans are. Maybe its the fact that they are still seeing the multiple Lombardi trophies Tom Brady hoists in the air about 4 times a decade. Most were nice, even though I was clad in green and real quiet after Cotchery's TD. Still, it was a loss and a long ride home.

Thomas Jones

The Jets recently acquired Thomas Jones from the Chicago Bears for next to nothing. I couldn't be happier. The Jets need a workhorse-type and Jones fits the bill, rushing for over 1200 yds each of the last two seasons. Curtis Martin he is not, he is still better than bringing in an unproven RB through the draft. Joseph Addai and Marooney are not the norm.

Add to that bruising FB Darian Barnes and the Jets have overhauled the backfield before Draft day.

Where do we go in the draft????

The Reason for the Season

This is the first post on my new blog. I will write about anything I feel like in a constant stream of thoughts that will brutalize you with their simplicity and caress you with their complexity. I will mis-spell many, many words. Buyer beware.
